Roses are Red....

Sometimes Blue, but not today, Ive got red and white for you!

Ok, so I'm not a poet! But Welcome to Day 3 of the Preview for Gina K Designs! And today we have Melanie's TWO new sets! Yep TWO!! And you are going to be surprised and fall in love with these!! And as always, Mel jam packs them full of awesome stamps!

This stamp is from Mel's set called 'A Year in Flowers' For my first card, it's the Red rose...the color most think of when you say 'a rose':

For this card I used my copic markers, just like in a previous post with the apples I did. After shading with the copics, I also used my koh-i-noor pencils (also available from Gina K Designs) to add even more shading. I did this on the leaves also. You CAN use your pencils over copics, but NOT copics over your pencils. It will clog the tip of your markers up...I have one grey copic that I have ruined by doing this, so thought I'd throw that tip in there, lol. See the cute little ladybug on the leaf? That's part of the set too! And the white butterfly? Actually that was the silkeen flowers that Gina is going to be carrying in her store, and she happened to mention that you could make them into butterflies, so I did! Just cut one little petal out is all you do. The red ribbon is also some of that gorgeous ribbon that Gina K Designs will be carrying also...I am sooo loving this ribbon! For the other parts of the card, I just used vellum again (for some reason loving it lately)...ran it through the CB swiss dots folder and used SU! corner rounder to make the scallop on the edge. Used the scallop corner punch once again also. Then cut out the tag for the sentiment with vellum too using a spellbinders die, stamped with red ink and used clear embossing powder on it...Ta-Da! All done! Now for my second card...a bit different one:

See that quote? That is one of my absolute favorite quotes! It is From Mel's other set called 'Say it with Flowers'. (This set has ALL quotes in it to go with her flower set! How fantastic is that??) I used this quote way back when I was in high school to describe myself! LOL! So I HAD to use it! This is the same rose, but stamped on black cardstock with white chalk ink...then I used my white koh-i-noor pencil to 'shade' it. No OMS was used, I just varied the pressure I put on the pencil as coloring. I also highlighted some of the edges of the rose with my white gel pen. This is my first time to try this technique and I am far from expert at this, but I LOVE it. I love the 'sketchy' feel to this...reminds me of pencil and line drawings. I do need more practice, so be looking for more like this one! I also rubbed the edges with my metallic rub paste, also available at Gina K designs, this is silver from the holiday colors of the paste. And the rhinestones? MORE of what Gina K will be carrying with this release! Told you Gina has jam packed this release with goodies!!

So, get excited! The release is TONIGHT! WOOHOO!! There will be more previews (and I have a couple as well) plus full reveals!...and challenges and games...oh my!! Here is the link to the Gina K forum for tonight, beginning at 7pm EST:
