ATC Tuesdays, #3

Hey ya'll!! Welcome to my 3rd ATC Tuesday! I am really enjoying doing this little cards, sometimes so much I forget to take a pic along the way, lol! Here is what I have done for this time around:



As you see, this one is a pretty simple one. Not alot to this one. I actually had 2 ATCs going at once and the one I wanted to show, got carried away and didnt take any extra pics...Here is a pic of that one:



Actually, this one just has a lot of stuff on it. The background is the main thing a created and I did that with a piece of pure copper and Verday, both from Ten Seconds Studio ...I am so loving their products, especially this new Verday, which adds a patina to metals, and also their metal paints, so much fun to play with! Anyways, on to the ATC for today that I remembered to take pics along the way of, lol!



I cut a piece of watercolor paper 2 1/2 x 3 1/2.



I then swiped across the watercolor paper with distress ink pads, direct to paper.


I then misted HEAVILY with water with a mini mister. I did it heavy because I wanted the ink to roll around on the paper. I picked it up after doing this and just tilted it back and forth to spread the inks out all over.


This is what I ended up with after helping it dry with a heat gun.


Stamped flowers onto the ATC with more distress ink.


Added some word stickers.


Sponged the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink. As you will see in the next pic though, I did not like where one of the words in that position, so moved it, lol! Also, did some more sponging with distress inks with a scallop edge I had cut out, I used it like a mask.



Tada! I have added all the elements on it here. I used a Tim Holtz keyhole, a piece of seam binding ribbon that I had dyed with vintage photo ink and added some white gel pen work to the middle of the flowers and was done!

So, yea, this one was pretty simple, but it looks fantastic in its little home in the tray! :D

I am not for sure about having another ATC Tuesday next week, because I will be getting ready for Gina K Design March Release, on the 8th. It will depend on how quick I get those samples done, lol! But if not next Tuesday, for SURE the one after that!

Rustic Daisy

Hey ya'll!! Ive been loving this daisy flower from Melanie Muenchinger's Pressed Flowers set lately! I guess wishing for spring to officially arrive! :D I don't like hot summer weather, the temps in the Spring are fine though. Anyways....

Here is a card I made to enter into the CAS DT search over on SplitCoast Stampers (SCS). We were to do a card with the theme 'The Great Outdoors' and be an encouragement card...here is what I did:



When I think of the great outdoors, I think rustic things and that is the look I was going for with this. The daisy is stamped using white acrylic. I need to that more often, I like how it looks!

I made this card for the CAS challenge, the weekly one, over on SCS. It was a sketch challenge we were to use...I believe the challenge was last weeks. Here is my card:



I used distress inks to stamp the daisy on this, plus did a 'two step' stamping...stamped the solid daisy first then used the open line art daisy to stamp over....and you don't have to be perfect when doing this, to me, it gives it a more 'artistic' look if you arent perfect!! :D

ATC Tuesdays, #2!

Hey ya'll!! Welcome to my 2nd installment of ATC Tuesdays! I was tickled to death to have one of you play along with me...Colleen's ATC was just gorgeous! Here is what I will be making today:



I discovered the Spellbinders Labels 18 die, the 2nd from the largest, its almost just the exact size of an ATC! And I had gotten some of the label in Nestaboard from Want2Scrap, so used this as my base:


Here I have painted the larger piece with Distress Crackle Paint in Vintage Photo, and also painted the next size down with white acrylic paint.


After drying, I stamped on the white piece with distress inks.



Here I have sponged the edges with some Vintage Photo distress inks.


Here I have punched a hole with the crop-a-dile for adding ribbon later.


Added some Nestabling, also from Want2scrap.


Stamped the butterflies with versamark ink then embossed with gold embossing powders.


Colored with Prisma colored Pencils and smudged with my fingers...this gives it a bit softer look.


Cut out the butterflies.


Used markers on the sentiment because I only wanted certain parts of the sentiment to put on my ATC. I then cut out the sentiment I had stamped and sponged those edges too with Vintage Photo distress inks....yes, I go through ALOT of Vintage Photo ink, lol!


TADA!! This is my ATC all assembled! I attached some green tulle behind the white panel...tied some seam binding ribbon through the hole. I decided not to use the big butterfly because it just way to big for this, but saved it to use another time! :D Here is a picture of how it looks in the tray:

Shaped Cards, a short visual tutorial.

Hey ya'll!! I thought I'd post a short tutorial on how I make a shaped card using Spellbinders Nestabilities. I've had several ask me how I made the cards using the Labels 23 from SB, so using that shape as an example. About a year ago, I believe it was, Gina K did a video on StampTV that had a shaped card in it, she used an oval shape I believe it was. Here is the card I have made for today to show you:


This card also uses yesterday's color challenge on SplitCoast Stampers, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake (didn't have the crumb cake so used kraft from PTI). This shaped card also uses Grand Labels and for this size I used the smallest shape in the set:



First, cut out 2 labels for the front and the back of the card base. (And I only emboss the top of the card base, not necessary, I just like that look! :D) Here I have cut out some extras because its in the design of the card:


Next, score the label cut out that will be the backside of the card. With this label shape, be sure and get the edges that I have arrows at flush against the edge of the scor-buddy and then I scored at the 1/2 inch mark:


This is after scoring:


Prefold the scored line using the bone folder:



Add Scor-tape...I used 1/4 inch here.


I lay this piece flat now simply because it's easier to attach in this way for me:


And here are the two pieces attached:


To make the middle band, I simply cut the dark blue and light blue shapes, the light blue slightly smaller than the dark by lining up like this on my cutter:


And the two pieces attached together:


Then to finish up the card, I did some sponging around the edges with the shapes put back in the labels die I used. Also for the stamped image I used markers to color then stamp and then cut out with circle nesties and layered it on a lacy circle nestie. Tied a ribbon around the middle band and then attached everything...I did a bit of paper piercing too there, seemed like it needed something else! LOL!

ATC Tuesdays, #1!

Hey ya'll!! Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to my first ATC Tuesday! I love making ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and recently purchased a storage tray from Hobby Lobby for them:



...soooo decided to do this ATC Tuesdays on my blog...basically just showing how I make each one for the tray they will all fit in. I also would love to see if any of you make any ATCs...you can leave me a link in your comments on the posts if you like! :D Here is my first ATC:



I saw this background I created somewhere, and for the life of me do not remember where! Basically it is rolled pieces of book pages, that has some distress inks on it. Here is how I made this one:

First, tore out some book pages and tore into smaller sizes to fit the ATC
size and swiped on some distress stains straight from the bottles:

after adding vintage photo distress stain to edge

And here is how I add the distress stain Vintage Photo to the edges:


I squeeze some out onto the nonstick craft sheet and then touch the edge into the droplet...it soaks it up like a paper towel! :D


I have added some distress stains to the base I will be using, just on the edges because that is all you will see on this ATC. Also have rolled one piece of torn paper.


Here I have now rolled and attached the rolled piece using modge podge.


Here is the completed background with the rolled papers.


Here are some grungeboard hearts and letters that I have used distress stains on.


Stamped this sentiment onto some kraft cardstock and then tore out, also used distress inks on this piece.


Painted the grungeboard embellies with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam glimmer paints.


Painted on some distress ink crackle paint and then helped speed up the drying process by using my heat gun on it.




Tada!! I attached all of the elements with glue dots and scor-tape...also added the tulle behind the hearts...I really like how this turned out!

Here is a little trick to for when you are photographing ATCs or things that can't stand up on their own...I take a small piece of cardstock and make an easel using some removable tape on the edge and stick it to the back of the card and prop it up that way! :D
