Faber-Castell and Gina K Designs Blog Hop!! Day 1

Hi Y'all!!

"Welcome to the first ever Gina K Designs/Faber-Castell Blog Hop! We are so excited to team up with the Faber-Castell designers! Both incredibly talented design teams are sure to WOW you with their many beautiful, creative ideas for using Gina K. and Faber-Castell products together.

As you hop through the GKD blogs, make sure to leave a comment, because each day a random comment will be chosen and that stamper will receive a Gina K Designs stamp set of their choice (up to a $24.95 value)!

Pop over to the Faber-Castell Blog (http://designmemorycraft.typepad.com) and leave a comment for a chance to win a Designing With Gelatos Kit too!

We have a full week of amazing inspiration to share with you, so let's get started!"

I have to be honest...before the hop, I had only used Faber-Castell's regular colored pencils. And I always love using those, so I was very excited to participate in this blog hop and get to use more of their goodies! Especially the Gelatos! Oh arent these things wonderful?! Why yes they are! (yes I answer myself too, lol!) Here is my first card I did:

For this card, I embossed the cardstock with an embossing folder. Then I took versamark ink, and did a DTP (direct to paper) technique with it. Doing it light so some card stock would not have any on it. I then poured clear embossing powder all over it and then heat set it. And then the fun began! LOL! I was given the Mix & Match Metallic Gelatos Colors to use and I took each of the 4 colors and used it on the embossed piece. Then I used THE best paint brush there is...My Finger! to push and blend and fill in the nooks and crannies here and there with the Gelatos. And I was also give the Stamper's Big White Pen and I used that to make the white dots on the embossed cardstock. The butterfly was basically done the same way, but embossed with white embossing powder. For the sentiment, I took the purple toned Gelato, and while the piece was still in the die, used my finger to go around the edges to give it the look it has. I totally love Gelatos now! Need them all! LOL!

Here is my next card, and I used the Gelatos and Stampers Big White pen again:

For this card, I wanted to see what the Gelatos looked like on black cardstock, and they are GORGEOUS on it! The big daisy was embossed with white embossing powder again, I then used the Gelatos and did the 'smearing' technique. Then once again used the awesome brush, my finger, the blend it together. I then used a dry cloth to wipe off the flower so the white outline would show, then used the Stamper's Big White Pen to color the daisy. I also used a Silver Mix & Match Metallic PITT Artist Pen to go around the edges of the white cardstock...it gave it just a bit of break up of the white on white for the image and made it stand out a bit more. I had the mini tinsel laying here on my craft table so used it too. I thought it made a very festive birthday card! :D

Ok, one more from me...I did a bit of watercoloring this time:

For this card I used the Mix & Match Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils. The colors are in the Neutral set. I actually painted this in a watercolor sketch book I have, and then when I tore it out I thought it looked neat with the side like that...literally ripped from its book! LOL! These pencils are actually THE best watercolor pencils I have tried! And I do love how the feel in my hand too. I did use the Stamper's Big Brush Pen in white on this too, made the small white dots around the flower with it.

Ok, that's all from me today! Now hop on over to the Oh so very talented Becky Oehlers' Blog because I know she will have something fantastic for you today!

And don't forget, these hops are going on all week! Dont miss out too on your chance to win some goodies from Gina K and Faber-Castell!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you were inspired a wee bit! :D
