Combining some STV challenges...

Howdy all! I decided to play along in this week's challenges on StampTV ... the color challenge (red, black, and chartreuse) and the sketch challenge, both fun ones! Here is what I ended up with:

I dont really care that much for my card though, lol! I have discovered I have NO black ribbon..nada...none! And the red and green colors in ribbon that I have clashed too much for me...sooooo, used the black and white checked and I think that is what is bugging me, lol! It just 'fit'...Anyways....The little birdy is one I just quickly hand drew then cut out...at least you CAN tell its a bird..right? LOL!

Well, off to do more cleaning in my stamp room...that always inspires me!:D Poor hubby ...I jinxed him, told him he needed to get more OT with the holidays coming up...last night he worked until 4:30am...and then they were waking him up at 6:30am with another bad water leak...so he says its my fault...LOL!

Gina K Design Illustrators/Design Team Blog Hop for October!

Hey ya'll!! Welcome to our challenge and hop for this month! For this month, we were to use a favorite background technique that Gina has done a video on...and chose this one:

This is such a fun one! This is my creation with using this technique:

I added a bit of distressing too on mine. The red ribbon you see is some I hand dyed....After seeing Nina's gorgeous ribbon she did, I wanted to try doing some. (I dyed 3 different colors, but this is the only one that survived the stray kitty burglar that stole them off my back deck as they were drying, lol!!) Well, I did not use the same kind of bias tape she used apparently, lol! I love how hers is more 'gauzy' looking than mine, but this had a distressed look to it, on the folded part, so decided to use it on this creation...I also stiffened the twine a bit and made it all wrinkly/curly....I kinda like how it turned out, sorta growing on me, haha! If you want to know how I dyed mine, or curled the twine, you can email me and I will get all the details to you! Ok, ready for more fun inspiration?

For more of the design team's favorite background techniques, please visit these designer's links participating in tonight's hop:

Thanks sooo much for stopping by! Have a wonderfully creative weekend! Are you loving the cooler temps we have now?? I know I am!

Gina K Design September Release Previews, Day 4!!!

Hey ya'll!! Welcome back to our final night of previews...which means tomorrow night, Thursday, is time for the PARTY and afterwards you can purchase these gorgeous stamps! WOOT!! Ok, we have two more sets to preview tonight...up first is Asela Hopkins' newest set called Winter Wings...this is what I did with it tonight:

I decided to try something new for me, Twinkling H2O's...and I watercolored!! I LOVe how this turned out...its one of those that you need to see IRL to appreciate the sparkly goodness! I also used Nina's Lovely Labels 2, embossed it in gold and cut it out to show that you do not have to own the label nesties that match it, still looks awesome just cutting it out! Ok, and since I was in a Christmas mood...I decided to practice making a few gifts for this year...I made some Salsa!! Here is what it looked like before decorating my little jar:

Now next I used the newest stamp set, illustrated by Gina, called Labeled With Love and added some finishing touches to my little jars of salsa...Here is how it looks now:

With just a few simple touches, just look how wonderful these looks now! ( I had to hide one in the back there...cause that bottle is EMPTY! SOMEbody ate it...) I'd love receiving something like this myself and this new set is just perfect for mass producing little gift labels, LOVE it!! Ok, ready for more eye candy?

Recipe for Tomatillo Salsa (from the Food Network Magazine Sept. issue)
1 large poblano pepper, stemmed and seeded
1/2 large white onion, cut into 4 wedges
4 cloves garlic
2 1/4 lb. tomatillos, husked
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar (Ileft this out)
Kosher Salt
3 red jalapeno peppers, thinly sliced crosswise (with seeds) --I could not find any red ones around here so just used ole green ones, but removed the seeds on 2 of them.
Chopped fresh cilantro (for topping, optional) I actually put some into the salsa.

1. Sterilize your jars.
2. Preheat the broiler. Put the poblano halves skin-side up on a foil- lined broiler pan with the onion and garlic. Broil until the poblano is charred and the onion and garlic are browned, about 8 minutes. cool the poblano slightly, then peel.
3. Pulse the tomatillos in a food processor in batches untilcoarsely chopped, then transfer to a bowl. Add the poblano, onion, and garlic to the processor and pulse until coarsely chopped (do not over process). Transferto a large, wide saucepan. Add the cumin, lime juice, vinegar, sugar, and 1 tablespoon salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook stirring occasionally, untill slightly reduced, 3 to 4 minutes.
4. Add the tomatillos and jalapenos to the pan, cover and return to a boil. cook until heated through, 3 to 4 minutes.
5. Fill the jars with the tomatillo mixture, leaving 3/4 inch headspace. If using regular canning jars, process as if canning. I just put them into these little minature jars cause I knew they wouldnt last around here, lol!

Gina K Design September Release Previews, Day 3!!!

Hey ya'll! Welcome again to another wonderful night of previews! I always have so much fun this time of month, hope you are enjoying it too! And once again we have two more sets to give you peeks of! Up first is a new set by Gina K and is the new card kit for this month...Jessica and Gina will have more of that info on their blogs. Here is what I did with this new set called Funny Farm:

This is a fun set to color! And I just love the whimsical and humorous little sayings in this set too! I went for a really country look with the red/white checkered ribbon on my creation...I think it works! LOL! Up next is Rupa's newest set called Tea Time....Here is what I did with this set for tonight:

Arent those little dainty cups the cutest!!?? I can remember my Mama having cups like that...but they were NEVER touched....sat in the china cabinet and now my sister has them sitting in hers, LOL! I told her to take them cause they would never last at my house...I drop and break anything made of glass! That's why we use mason jars for drinking glasses...only kind I dont break, rofl! But this set just reminds me of my Mom because of those teacups! Ok, ready for more eye candy?
