Gina K Designs PARTY tonight!

Howdy all and welcome to the last of the previews tonight! Tomorrow, Thursday, July 30th, is the release party at 7pm CST! WOOOHOOO!! And at 10pm the new stamps sets and kit will be available along with the new cardstock and a few other goodies!

For tonight's preview we are showing the new One Free with Three stamp set called Tropical Windows and this a card I made with it:

This was my quickest card ever! (broke my own record, 28 minutes! LOL) Another CAS card, but I am just loving doing those lately. Although, I always have to add SOME kind of detail, lol! For this one I colored the image with my markers, huffed on them a little bit then just stamped it. I decided to do a bit of distressing too. I also used 2 little stamps from Melanie's newest set, Inspiration Mosaic, those 2 little squares. I just lined them up on the block together then stamped them across to make the little band there. The pierced circle was done using the circle template also from Gina K. Added the double buttons, glued a few little beads for the flower centers and I was done!

I also decided to alter a cheap little notebook I picked up at Michaels or Hobby Lobby one, I cant remember which one! LOL! But here it is:

I was trying to keep the front of it simple, because I didnt want stuff getting in my way as I use it. I call this my "Joy Journal". I have several different journals actually, and I think everyone should have a Joy Journal...where you write something down EVERYDAY that you find joy in. Whether it be a smile from a stranger, a baby laugh you hear, or doing your cards, we all can find joy in something everyday! On this I just stamped the image in black ink, then I went over it with a copic spica glitter pen in black too, went around the image with a pink marker and tied the ribbon on the edge. I used different colored ribbons to tie on the spiral binding to jazz it up some. The black elastic band is what holds it closed and it was already attached. Stamped the saying 'enjoy the day' that comes in the set and hung it like a little sign with some black craft thread.

Now for more projects made with the stamps previewed today, be sure to check out our other Senior Design Team Member's Blogs:

Gina K Designs Preview Day 3!

Ohhh have we got a good one for you today! It's a preview for the new StampTV Kit! And it is AWEsome! It's called "Signs of Autumn", *sighs* my favorite time of year! Ok, here is my first card:

I made another CAS card, and I just really love how this one turned out! Do you love that beautiful orangy/rust colored cardstock? It's called Pumpkin Spice and will ONLY be available exclusively with this StampTV Kit until we have August's release! It goes so awesome with this kit's colors of cardstock, the NEW Green Apple, Chocolate Kiss, and Ivory...just beautiful colors for Autumn! For this card, I used a paintbrush and swiped some regular acrylic paint where the sentiment was going to be and then just stamped it with StayzOn Ink. I free-handed the piercing of the swirl where the leaf is 'falling'. I colored the leaf with copic markers and cut it out and popped it up. I also colored the twine with copic markers to match the Green Apple and added the brads that come in the kit. Hung a charm from the twine and was done! I think it will work for a masculine card too!

Now for my next card I went into a bit more detail:

I once received a beautiful fall arrangement that had flowers in it similiar to these, and these colors! So that is what I tried to copy. I colored the flowers with copics, cut them out and popped them up too. I took that beautiful Pumpkin Spice cardstock and ran it through the crimper, added that ribbon, which is also in the kit, tied a button on with the twine that comes in the kit too! I think this card just ooozes Autumn!

Our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team member, Dawn Lusk is joining in our previews today showing a card today too. Remember to check out StampTV for the new video today - Gina will be showing a project made with the new Signs of Autumn StampTV kit!

Gina K Designs Preview Day 2!!

Hey all, welcome back for Day 2 of the previews for this Thursday's new release stamps! Did ya love yesterday's as much as I loved showing them!?? Just wait till you see today's goodies!

For my first card, this uses Theresa Momber's newest set from Gina K entitled Timeless Treasures:

You are gonna love this set! It really quite different than any set that I have seen in Gina's stamp line. I love how you can use this, like for a distressed look, using all the fun products that are out there now too (which I will have another sample like that this Thursday night for a challenge that I will be hosting using this set!) I had a little fun with this card. The image of the pendant is actually one that you can color in, but I decided to make it a silhouette! Notice the stitching around it? No, I still havent broken out my Janome Mini yet, LOL! That is by hand still, I just pierced all around then used some black thread and did a backstitch.

Now, for my second preview, I used Rupa's newest set entitled Are We There Yet? :

Well, there is something about moving vehicles that I think I have to customize them, lol! This is my customized retirement motor home! LOL! I have always said that I was gonna do this when I retire...buy me a motor home and decorate it with hippy flowers! rofl! I even put some custom wheels on it! I had such fun with this card, and I even did the inside too:

I think this makes such a fun retirement card, and with lots of my friends reaching that age, this stamp is just right!

For more projects made with the stamps previewed today, be sure to check out our other Senior Design Team Member's Blogs:
Gina, Asela, Cathy, Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Kurtis, Jessica, Lee, Lynn, Melanie, and Theresa
and, be sure to check out our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team member's blogs for a card made with Timeless Treasures by Shannon Bracken and Brenda Turner has a card to show us that she made with the fun Are We There Yet stamp set too!

Ok, hope you enjoyed tonight's preview! And we will be back tomorrow with another one! Woohooo!!

Gina K Preview Day 1!!

WOoohooooo!! The previews are FINALLY here with the release party this Thursday, July 30th 7pm CST at the Gina K Designs company forum at SCS. I will be sure and have that link up, to the party thread, on Thursday too!

Now, on with the good stuff! For today, first up is Melanie Muenchinger's new set entitled Inspiration Mosaic:

Mel has done it again! Her creative side of her brain never ceases to amaze me! This is another BIG stamp and when I first saw it, I felt like I would not know what to do with it! But then, OMG, the ideas for this just keep coming! I am having to write them down to remember them all, lol! I have had a blast with this stamp set! For this card I actually cut all the pieces apart and sponged the edges and then put them back together like a puzzle. Did some paper piercing, popped up the two sentiment areas you see there (isn't that one saying sooo awesome, LOVE it!) The little leaves I have used are from the Tropical Flowers set, also from Gina K Designs, just to give my flower a stem there. These are some of the white paper flowers that you can color with your copics to match your colors you are using too. Slapped a ribbon and some brads on and I was done! Fun card! This set has so many possibilities...and I already have 3 more cards done with this set, which I will show the night of the party!

Now the next set we are previewing tonight is by Nina Brackett entitled Elegant Post:

And isn't the name fitting? VERY elegant, just look at the sentiment even! I decided to go with a CAS (clean and simple) card for this one. I stamped the pole directly onto the Soft Sand cardstock (from Gina K) and then drew the line onto the cardstock all around the edge with a copic multi-liner pen and added the little dots in the corners because they needed something there, lol. The flowers are colored with copics, then I went over some of them with spica glitter pens to give it some sparkle, which of course you can't tell in this photo, cut them out, and then I popped them up with some pop dots. This is the card that you got to see the backside of last night, lol! I really LOVE how this card turned out! I love it when you can take a stamp set and make an elegant CAS card with it and this is one of those!!

For more projects made with the stamps previewed today, be sure to check out our other Senior Design Team Member's Blogs:
Gina , Donna, Emily, Erika, Kurtis, Jessica, Lee, Lynn, Melanie, and Theresa
and, don't forget to check out our CenterStage Spotlight girls joining us in Previews today: Sue Walsh is showing an Elegant Post card today and JenMarie Taylor has a card made with the new Inspiration Mosaic stamp set.

I may get fired, but here's a sneak peek! shhh

Welll, since I have been so busy getting ready for tomorrow night's Gina K Designs previews (starts at 10pm CST tomorrow night!) I thought I'd risk showing just a LITTLE peek...

Scrollll down.....

Keep scrolllingggggg....

We have to keep this secret ya know, I LOVE being on the DT!! But I am willing to risk it JUST for ya'll....

BWahahahahaha!! Couldn't resist! LOL! This IS the backside of a preview card for tomorrow night though! Just wait till you see all the awesome stamp sets this month!! I am so excited to show you that I had to tease a LITTLE bit, lol. And to apologize for being so busy that I havent posted a card alll week! Anyways, just be sure and check Gina's blog tomorrow night, Sunday the 26th at 10pm CST for the start of the previews! You will NOT be disappointed then! I PROMISE, no more backside of cards! LOL!

I have had to help my daughter over the last few days...she hurt her back and we actually had to call an ambulance to come get her because she could not move and I could not lift her, me or her Dad together couldnt. They did an MRI and we should know more Monday. As for right now, they are treating it as muscle spasms. But she is in sooo much pain and still cannot move even after them sending her home this evening. If she just lays flat out on her back in the bed, and takes the muscle relaxers and pain meds they gave her, she will rest, but if she has to get up to go to bathroom, it takes her forever to even get up to edge of bed and through tears and pain she finally makes it...so say a prayer for her and hopefully she will get relief from the pain soon. Pain is not an easy thing to deal with I know.

Ok, that's all for tonight! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and see ya tomorrow night, 10pm!!

Inspiration Challenge card and sorta tutorial...

I say sorta because I didnt take photos as I went along doing the card! I was actually just playing around and seeing if I could get it to work...well, first, here's the card. I used the IC189 challenge at SCS for this, here is what I used for inspiration:

Tracy Porter Site

And here is my card:

The image was colored right onto the Soft Sand cardstock from Gina K Designs with copic markers and a white gel pen. The copics DO seep through on this cardstock so I added a layer of green. Now, the open circle where the image is...that came about by seeing someone ask on StampTV how to do this. To leave a blank area when using your cuttlebug, so I began playing around. I am sure I am not the first to come up with this at all, but this is how I did mine and it worked!

First, I took my Cuttlebug folder and drew around it on a piece of chipboard. This chipboard I purchased at Hobby Lobby and it says 'Grafix Chipboard' , came in big 12x12 squares, its pretty thick chipboard. I say this because for the CB sandwich, it is going to vary from machine to machine. I then cut that rectangle shape, same size as my CB folder, with a very sharp craft knife and scor-pal cutting mat. Be patient when cutting out thick chipboard, just keep going over and over it, it will eventually cut through it!

Next, I wanted a circle that wasnt embossed with my CB folder, so I took a circle nestability in the size I wanted, placed it in the middle of this cutout rectangle shape, drew around it and then cut it out the same way.

I knew also I would be stamping in the middle of this circle so I created a mask for my 4x5 piece of cardstock I would be using. Here is a picture of the piece of chipboard after it is cut and the mask I used:

Now, the important part is the sandwich. Like I said, it took me some playing around with it. I also kept thinking wrong, lol! Basically, one way to think of it is...where ever you use the chipboard at it is going to EMBOSS with this sandwich that I used for mine. Here is a picture of my sandwich I used:

This picture is exactly how it goes into the CB too.
1. Plate A
2. CB folder with cardstock in it to be embossed
3. Chipboard
4. Plate C

And after running it through, I used the mask I created to do a bit of sponging in white around the circle to kinda pop it more. And thats it! I hope this helps someone, and like I said, I am sure I'm not the first to come up with this, lol! But it was new to me and I am tickled how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by today, and hope you all had a wonderfully relaxing and crafty weekend!

Here's your card....

...that I told you about that kinda grew on me, lol! I tried the technique challenge that Lynn posted Monday on SCS and also used the color challenge that Sue has on StampTV from Monday:

The colors to use are red/white/black, think I succeeded there, lol! I the technique challenge is called 'faux grid'...I kinda like the card now, like I said, it grew on me. Since at first I didnt like it, I tried another one, and this is that one:

And I like this card even less, haha! It's just me, ever get in a funk where your cards you are just making are NOT coming out how you want??? ug....I hate that when that happens. But posting them anyways...comes with the territory, you must endure my ugly cards too, haha!

Well, I had the headache from you know where yesterday. Had to go get a shot for it too, so taking it easy today, not staying online much, trying to keep the strain off my eyes for today!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend and I be back soon with a 'pretty' card I hope, lol! Thanks for stopping by!

Crayon resist card

I had to try my hand at a technique that Gina K showcased on StampTV a couple of weeks back, crayon resist. Here is my card:

I really love this technique, its like magic when the image appears, too cool! I am not happy with my card though. Love how the image turned out, but after putting it all together, from somewhere came some stray ink and I got a smudge on it, so that is the reason for the ribbon across the image panel, lol! Made me so mad! I did not want to ditch the whole thing though! But it has kinda grew on me now, lol! Ever have a card do that to you? GROW on you? I have another card that I will post tomorrow that has done that to me too, lol!

I still have not got my Janome Sew-Mini sewing machine out of the box yet, how bad is that?!! I am determined though that this weekend I am going to do that and watch the videos at StampTV so I will know how to thread the darn thing even. Should be fun! ha!

Well, like I posted over there on twitter, the electric company here said something about us having rolling blackouts in the area, not because of high usage, you know, blowing a transformer or something, its something THEY are initializing...I have no clue how it is suppose to HELP or what or how long one will last. I turn the air off for like 5 minutes and I'm sweating, lol! 105 degrees today....COME ON FALL!!

Ok, hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! Just think tomorrow is FRIDAY! lol!
Thanks for stopping by!

Distressed...

Not me, but my card! I made this for an example for the sketch challenge this week on StampTV that I am hosting. I also used last week's technique challenge from Lynn on SCS, Faux Burnt Edges (really FUN technique!) Here is the card:

I used my favorite flower right now, the daisy from the StampTV kit 'Eclectic Summer'! I just am loving that daisy lately! Back in high school, for my senior prom, I told the guy I wanted a corsage with daisies, he did good, lol! So daisies have been a favorite flower of mine for a long time! I decided to make this a red one, and distress the card with paint, inks and scissors. I call cards like this the 'grunge' look that I do, lol! I really had fun making this card. The wording and flourish actually has another flower on the flourish part, which that stamp is from Hero Arts, but I wanted to pop up a flower so that is what lead to using the daisy too. After doing the card is when I decided to use it for a sketch...I havent posted at StampTV yet, well, first lost my camera cord, then got one, then July 4th happened and well, just now getting around to posting, lol!

Look for something really AWEsome and fun coming later this week from Gina K! WOohooo! Always fun coming from Gina K!!

Ok, just a bit of personal stuff now...

Things seem to be ok right now with me. It's like Billy is, oh, I dont know, make up? LOL! That is the best way I know to describe it. He is home alot more, pays ALOT of attention to me, asks me to go with him to anywhere he goes, even to the convenience store just up the road. Really strange....I'm just going with the flow...best thing I know to do right now. The 4th was really fun with my daughter and Blake. He really isnt that crazy about fireworks YET, but did like the snakes and sparklers...but the ones that made a big boom, he would cover his ears and say 'no more!' He got a little too hot and excited and drank some kool-aid too much and fast and puked too, and I felt so sorry for him! He thought after he got sick he was gonna have to go home I guess, cause he says...'I no get sick no more, I ok!' saying it while crying...ahhhhh, but he was ok, we all reassured him that its ok, just dont drink so fast and made him sit down and cool off in the house for a bit. Here are a couple of pics:

That first picture is of him and the sparkler. He really loved those and got upset when we ran out of them. The 2nd picture is of him watching a firework that was just shooting up sparks. He didnt mind those, but they didnt hold his interest long, lol! That little toy he's sitting on, he has sooo outgrown that but still just loves it for some reason! Will NOT let us throw it away!

Ok, that's about it for now! Off to do some more creating today, and hope you have a wonderfully creative day too!
